Came back to this after the news broke of Mr. Corman's passing. Excellent interview. May he rest in peace.
An amazing gentleman and artist. What a run!
RIP Roger Corman
666 likes! Coincidence? 😂 RIP Billy Freidkin sir!
Holy crap this is THE Mick Garris? With the Almighty Scat! I've never seen Garris without his long hair! 😂
You never saw me in 1979!
Wow. Passive aggressive much, mr Landis? Also 13 year old female characters topless, why, ugh... Haven't seen it and have no interest but hope there is a reason not sexual. Love Trading Places and Werewolf in London, one of the 2 best movies ever made. He can be a great director but him and him and his son seems like horrible people.
Not the easiest person to interview. Well done.
Thanks!
I absolutely love the moment you see that Carpenter realize he gets to actually get good questions and time to answer them. He lights up and goes ahead.
😁 It helps that I’ve known John since 1978!
He was wearing the same shirt as the hitchhiker
if his films had failed, Hooper could have done well as a voice actor, it's very unique.
Loved him in the killer tongue great movie
I was the 666th like of this video.
i watched this with my mum so many times but it'd make me crap myself from the gremelins and get me too scared to sleep
ive been to bowling green
con jarpwnter
Love him talking about how good we have it these days. Something many don't appreciate
Gramleens
This horrible human being should be behind bars. He has blood on his hands.
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿👑👑👑
Best horror director ever! Why? It's all about characters. All his movies, even the "lesser" films have great, fleshed out, relatable characters
i watched the funhouse (1981) the other day. and eaten alive
Mathew Mercer, a man through time and space
The new flesh is here. Videodrome is a true story. If you've read Marshall McLuhan's book THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE, he talks about how it's not the CONTENT of the medium that we should study, but rather it is the medium itself causing us to respond to stimuli coming through the medium....and this causes us to be involved with the medium. It changes us. Creates an environment. Creates an effect. We monkey what we see coming through the medium... This is a strange example, but think of pornography on the TV/video/satellite, and how it causes us to "take action" along with it. The subconscious registers what it sees as reality, and adjusts itself to the stimuli. I guess it really is LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH....
All true
6:11 describes film bros and their favorite movies like fight club and starship troopers
Ummm, this was recorded in 1979.
I keep watching Larry's movies year after year and they continue being so unique and vibrant!
i must be the one who thinks 1000corpses is way better than devils rejects
Really a great interview with Robert Englund
What about PIRANHA?! NO MENTION😢🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
A really insightful interview. Personally, I`ll never see this great movie as a comedy, I was too terrified watching it!
PRICELESS interview.Thank you!

Hard to believe that landis still had a career in directing and producing after twilight zone.
Today jamie 65 years
Happy birthday jamie from italian boy live in rome
Damn this was so cool to hear him talk. Wow.
A Four hour mini series Tobe ? Were is the rest of it then ? Lol I heard the late great Reggie Nalder, for one, was not happy as many scenes involving his character were left on the cutting room floor, so to speak. So were, I'm sure we'd all like to know, are those missing scenes? Perhaps producer Richard Kobritz would know ? Feel free to come on Richard if you see this buddy !!
It was broadcast as a four-hour miniseries on television, with all those scenes that were deleted for the international theatrical release
I think the movie he might have walked out of with Joe Dante was Maximum Overdrive, but that was 1985ish.
As the well known Chinese saying goes the teacher is great when his students outshine him. If Rodger Corman had been around in the 15 and 1600s he'd have no doubt been working with, directing and producing Shakespeare and Webster. Garris is a fabulous interviewer and Corman an unmatchable guest. What an inspiration and pleasure. Brilliant both of them!
Thanks for the kind words. Roger is still one of the great guardians of cinema. I hope you caught our podcast of the Beyond Fest tribute to him.
@@mickgarris2555 I haven't yet thanks but I will. It's truly a great and memorable piece of film history and especially because your questions and follow ups are so well thought out and got him to speak about how he worked technically and personally on those shoestring budgets and ten day shooting schedules. Most director interviews tend to lapse exclusively on characterizations or themes or the idiosyncrasies of actors. And when he does, it's not about some prima donna pouting in their trailer but hysterically and frighteningly in dealing with a bunch of surly moody bikers. Priceless. I love how he explains how he took, as a trained engineer, an overhead birds eye view to get the scenes and actors organized in his mind first before shooting when he began directing. And because he's so urbane, precise, low key, modest and approachable and this is the guy who had me searching the basement nightly at eight years old with a flashlight checking for cobwebs and menacing shadows having at that time only seen the trailer for the Fall of the House of Usher? Thanks again to you both. Great work.
